About Me

I decided I wanted to be a fashion designer when I was 10 years old

I have been a fashion designer for the past 15+ years

Sometimes I can’t believe I really did it

Sometimes I think of course I did how could

I be anything else

I’ve always loved making things

With fabric

I’ve always loved clothes

I’ve always loved playing dress up

As a kid and teen I loved learning about the lives of famous fashion designers so I could recreate the path

In high school I obsessively watched project runway

At 18 I went from WY to NYC to fashion school and have been on a wild adventure with clothing ever since

My fashion dreams took me to offices on 7th Avenue

Then to a magical rural village in the mountains of Peru

I’ve designed kids clothes, sweaters and outdoor apparel

Hundreds of designs, thousands and thousands of units of clothing manufactured

I circled back to upcycling post pandemic

I’ve always struggled with what mass manufacturing does to the people and planet

I wanted to make discarded clothing special

As a designer you always start with a reference point, with upcycle the reference is physical

Since starting Cowgirl Mermaid I have upcycled over 1000 items of clothing

I would like to grow that number to have a lot more zeros

As a society we have created so much clothing

What if we just stopped and rearranged everything that already exists?
