Bow Jacket Round Up 3

Bow Jacket Round Up 3

Bow Jacket No. 99

Lavender Racing Stripes

99 Bow Jackets!!!! This is the 99th bow jacket for the daily drop! I cannot believe it! For this jacket I didn't have a specific inspiration, this one was about making a fresh color combination. Sometimes I just play around with the ribbons until I like what I see. I start with a ribbon I want to use and be the focal point and then just lay out many different color combinations until I see one that I like that I haven't done before. 99 jackets also means 99 unique color combinations. 3 color positions has exponential outcomes. For this one I loved this deadstock yellow stripe ribbon. I got this in nyc in the garment district in January. I only have a little, enough to make 2 bows. So I wanted it to be the star here. I love lavender off yellow. It has a heritage yet modern feel, I definitely am feeling that a lot lately, something about county fair ribbons.

BOW JACKET 100!!!!

Werk Wear

I CANNOT BELIEVE I MADE 100 BOW JACKETS FOR THE DAILY DROP!! When I was coming up with this concept of upcycle production and the Daily Drop, I could picture in my mind many pages on the website of the bow jacket. When I think about making something in big quantities I get overwhelmed, but when I break down a project and do it step by step and not rushing each step the outcome is always grand. When I make one thing a day it does not feel overwhelming to create a set. This project helped me create more than I ever thought was possible. It has taken 3 different production stints, I started in April 2024 and went to the end of June 2024. I then took a break and picked back up in August 2024 and went to Dec 2024. I then took another break and picked back up in the end of Feb 2025 and now I am rolling again for the foreseeable future, until I need to take another break. I have taken down the production quantity from 5 jackets a week to 2-4 jackets a week to make the production more sustainable. I had lots of reflection time on my break and my goal is to not over extend myself for this. It is quite a project, it takes me the majority of the day to design, sew and take the content to get it on the site. I can't do a ton of other things because each jacket needs a new burst of creativity.  It has to have a new element somewhere worked in. For the 100th jacket I wanted to do something unexpected but maintain the classic bow design. In jan I had come up with this idea of working reflective ribbon into the bows. This idea was inspired by a lace construction vest from instagram. I thought of my outdoor design days and how much I would bring in reflective moments for when you need a high vis moment in active gear. I thought of protest wear and how reflective can be powerful in those situations. I thought of construction worker vests and how everything feels like it is under construction in the world right now. We can all be a part of building something. I also like the idea of the bows reflecting outward.  If you are wearing a bow jacket you should be high vis and reflecting your magic! So thank you for following and being apart of this crazy Bow Jacket project!!! I'm going to keep sewing bows!!

A note on the Daily Drop Concept

The idea of making one jacket a day was also inspired by fast fashion. Everything I do with my brand is to explore different ideas of manufacturing as well as design. Fast fashion and trends keep us engaged because the new ness keeps coming at us fast. So the idea I had was to post something new each day to keep an audience engaged as well as seeing constant "new ness" in sustainable fashion. Upcycle is such a simple way to make something old new again. My hope is other creatives making products mimic this concept. I am not the first to come up with this I have seen many painters and sketch artists do a drawing a day. I love how you can see an artist's stream of consciousness. I love looking at the bows in order because hindsight is always 20/20.
