Bow Jacket No. 95
Vintage Varsity
I actually made this jacket in January. I was on my sewing break and was also taking a break from social media. It was around the inauguration and I was very upset about the bro-ligarchy and what had happened with the tik tok ban. I wasn't sure what to do after building my audience through instagram and tik tok last year and putting so much energy into those platforms. One thing I always wanted to do was share how to make a Bow Jacket. So I thought I would make a video on how to make a bow jacket and share on those platforms because one of the pillars of the matriarchy over the patriarchy is sharing information, teaching skills and doing this without the exchange of money. Because if you want to sew your own Bow Jacket I would love that so much, and there had been a few people on tik tok that had made them over the summer without a tutorial and I was very inspired. To truly build a Bow army I can't sew all the jackets myself. So I had just come back from NYC with new ribbons and I was very refreshed on color after my inspo day of upcycle shopping and going to Moma. I love this orange and yellow vibes off the brown, it felt vintage but modern, very crayon box. I imagine going to the big game but being the coolest person in the stands. How to make a bow jacket is here on tik tok, it is a 2 part video, second one is here. I saved this one to bring to the Daily Drop on a day when I wouldn't have time to sew one, and this was the weekend I got my new puppy Clover, so perfect timing to bring in an already made jacket.

Clover's Jacket
I have been wanting a dog again and was thinking of getting one in the fall. In my restful time I had been able to grieve the loss of my dog that happened last year more and one night he came to me in a dream. I really had been missing dog energy, Bakie and I would always have a good time together. I knew when I got a new dog I would want to get a puppy and I wanted another mini aussie, I love cow dogs, I had a epic border collie name Betty growing up. 2 weeks ago my friend Suzana texted me on friday night a picture of a mini aussie puppy named Clover, she said I have your puppy! I hadn't told her I had been wanting a dog again, I hadn't told anyone. I burst into tears, there was something about this puppy. Suzana had found her and her sister on a need to foster site as they had been found abandoned in the desert and then brought to a kill shelter and needed to get out. Suzana had jumped in her car and ran to get them. She had both the puppys at her home in Moab. I slept on it and in the morning i called her I was coming for the puppy. I just knew this was my puppy, I knew it was going to be a big challenge to do all by myself but with my entire life in transition it felt like a good time to build a dog into my life. I had also had many single friends with their dogs inspiring me in the fall. I am a dog person and just need to build one in my life. On sunday I set off to Moab to get the puppy, Suzana and I had a funny few days together with these puppys. It was so nice to have a friend look out for you and know you so well they know what your dream dog is. Clover and I have been bonding and learning alot, I am very sleepy, but I'm so glad I did it and by summer we will be doing so many outdoor adventures. Her personality is funny silly adventurous and sweet. I feel like she is a green and and pink gal. Also Wicked reminded me how much i need animals in my life. My dad let me know Clover is a popular name for baby cows and they bring luck to the farm. I hope so! So this was inspired by Clovers vibes and how she came to me. I have been leading my life by the saying "What would the Cowgirl Mermaid do?" and I was thinking the Cowgirl Mermaid would definitely go to the desert to get her cow dog.

Desert Gurl
I love going to the desert, the colors inspire me so much. My run to Moab was very quick but the colors just glow in my mind. I love the crisp clear blue sky up against the reds, yellows, browns of the dirt. I especially love driving through the desert because the colors just burn in my mind like big stripes. I wanted to make sure a stripe was in here because it reminds me where the sky hits the rocks in a harsh line. I like having a jacket where the front is neutral and the back is bold, it allows the wearer to pair the jacket with everything and then be bold as they walk away.

Spring Snow
March has brought the sun, I love when the sun hits the snow. You know you are through the darkest days of winter and summer will return eventually. You get that hit of vitamin D whew! Love it! The best part of hanging with Clover is we are outside a lot. This time of year is the best time to start going back outside again. I also have been very inspired by stripes and I wanted to combine 3 different stripes and still make it feel balanced. I like how it is busy with stripes but yet feels approachable and neutral. The sky is clear blue, it is hitting the white snow but then its starts to melt and the dirt comes through so the dusty neutrals appear. The lurex in the back gold stripe represents the glittery of the sun hitting the snow.
