A Cowgirl Mermaid Getaway

A Cowgirl Mermaid Getaway

Last week I spent a magical week in a very Cowgirl Mermaid location. A ranch on a lake!! We rode horses, hiked and found seashell fossils if that isn't a cowgirl mermaid adventure I don't know what is. It was also a gathering of queer people from all over the west from many different worlds and ages. I learned so much from hearing everyones stories and life histories. It inspired me endlessly and reminded me to keep learning about all those that came before, there has always been queer people out west. The famous gays stories from Wyoming might have tragic endings but there are also many more stories with happiness and love at the center of them. This was such a cool way to kick off the first week of pride. I'm still taking everything in from last week, I'm not sure how it will manifest out of me but I had to write a little something just to start documenting what came from that epic adventure.

First I needed to make some matching shirts for Bentley and I. If I am going on a trip with a friend we will have matching merch. The vibe we were bringing was "Brokeback Mountain who", so i was inspired by the denim shirts in the movie. Also always need a denim pearl snap for cowboy adventures.

Being near water is my favorite place to be, even better if the water in the mountains

This used to be the bottom of the ocean, just when I wonder where the Cowgirl Mermaid came from moments like these hit me hard.

Trying to make a relief drawing in the rain, lol it did not work

Riding horses was so fun, I used to be so scared of horses and last summer I rode one again and forgot how much fun it is. It was so cool to get to ride them almost everyday of the week. New goal of mine is to keep learning about horses and ride more.

I was definitely being a Content Cowgirl

When the weather wasn't right for activities Bentley and I got our photoshoots on. The cabins were such a good back drop, we took turns shooting each other. I also wanted to take and post some very out of the closet pics, I made this trucker hat last year and was too chicken to wear it then. This year is a different story and being around the ranch crew you can't not be OUT and PROUD. Coming out is a journey, it looks different for everyone, just do you.

I love hiking, this was such a cool one. I have driven past this area so many times and never walked around and its cooler up close. I love the pops of flowers around. I could just picture the Cowgirl Mermaid wandering.

What a way to kick off summer!

Happy Pride Month!!!

WHAT WOULD THE COWGIRL MERMAID DO!?!?
